Robert Phillips has been working in the tree care profession for more 30 years. His career started when he was employed by his grandfather at Sohner Tree Service in 1974. The family business began in 1931 in San Anselmo, California. Currently, Robert provides estate ornamental tree care, and works to help build better arborists through training seminars and workshops. He became a certified arborist in 1986 and was the Western States Tree Climbing Champion in 1988. Robert authored a column in Arbor Age Magazine and assisted in the development of the ISA/NAA Video series "Basic Training for Tree Climbers" and the TCIA video series, "Rigging for Removal." He is a past president of the Western Chapter of the ISA.
