Dr. Ed Gilman has been a professor at the University of Florida since 1986.
He teaches arboriculture, conducts research on planting and pruning, and works extensively with green industry professionals. He is the author of An Illustrated Guide to Pruning, which is in its third edition. In total, he has authored six books on trees and landscape plants, award-winning web sites, and more than 95 scientific peer reviewed journal articles. He has been recognized with many awards including, the Authors Citation Award in 1999, the Educators Award in 2003, and the research award in 2007 from the ISA for sustained excellence in research, publishing and teaching.
